Favorite Things Party

Brown paper packages tied up with string...these are a few of our favorite things.  This past week I hosted a favorite things party with my favorite girls.  The rules for the party were, everyone had to spend no more than $5 and purchase their ONE favorite thing for everyone at the party (8 girls).  This party was Oprah inspired...she does her favorite things show and gives everyone in her audience her favorite items for the season.  

I loved seeing what everyone can't live without.  We left the party with lots of fun goodies and decided we are doing this for every season!

Texas Float Parade

In fourth grade part of their study of Texas History the students have to create a float for a Texas city.  They are assigned a city and Tristan was given San Marcos.  He did a great job researching San Marcos and learning everything he could about this city.  On his float he put the San Marcos River, Texas State University, The Outlet Malls and the Nature Preserve.  It was really fun to see all the kids present their city during the parade. 

Gabriela's 7th Birthday

We celebrated Gabriela's 7th Birthday the first weekend in March.  We had a girlie girl party at our home.  My sister and mom painted nails, decorated bookmarks, made shrinky dinks necklaces and played outside...not to mention we had pizza and cookie cake.  It was such a fun day...the only downside was Tristan had his championship basketball game that same day/time so Dave and Tristan missed the party.  Gabby liked having only girls though.  Can't believe our baby girl is 7!  The time is going too fast!

Baby Shower for Baby Haley

Back in February I hosted a baby shower with my sister Natalie and cousin Brittany  for our cousin Lindsey who is due in late March.  Our theme for the shower was little man...we had cute mustache straws and blue/green everywhere we could.  We had such a good time eating yummy food and catching up with family and friends.  Can't wait to meet baby boy Haley...wish we knew his name already but I guess there are so few surprise now a days...I can wait a few more weeks. 

Daddy Daughter Dance

In February Dave and Gabriela had their annual Daddy Daughter Dance.  This year our friends the Harlens hosted a dinner before the dance for all the daddies and daughters in our Y-Princess group.  A few mommies came by to help serve dinner...I was one of the lucky mommies that got to help. 

 I just LOVE this night for Gabby and Dave...so fun to watch her get all dressed up for her date with her daddy.  She looks so forward to this every year....she loves dancing with her daddy.  

Thanks to the Harlens for a fun dinner and to Aunt Natalie for helping with the girls hair. 

Winter Birthday Dinner and Celebration

In late January we had our Winter Birthday Celebration for our Crazy 8 group.  Our group has four ladies that have birthdays in the Fall and four that have birthdays in the winter rather than have 8 separate birthday we have a fall dinner and a winter dinner.  The fall birthday girls host a dinner for the winter girls and vice a versa.  We had a lovely evening with a yummy taco bar and sangrias.  So fun hanging out with my favorite girls.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science

I am still playing catch up on our blog so forgive me for the delay.  

During Christmas Break Dave and I took the kids to the new Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas.  My amazing work purchased memberships for all employees and we could not wait for this place to open so we could go play.

If you are looking for a fun day of hands-on play/learning this is the place to go.   The kids were able to separate DNA, create their own bird, see fossils and bones found in the Dallas area...but the high light for both of them was racing against professional athletes.  Gabriela raced against Olympic gymnast Emily Richardson and Tristan raced Cowboy's running back Felix Jones.  We all had so much fun, as we were leaving the kids asked when we were coming back.
